Nokia 3310 Classic GPRS Java Setting Using AXIS SIM Card

Hi there, long time no post in this blog since I'm concentrate on the biskitZ project ( a CMS based on CodeIgniter Framework that I build by my own)... :)

Well, a few days in this week I have a little problem with the GPRS in Nokia 3310 Classic that I want to use with the AXIS SIM Card. What is the problem? The problem is the OTA that AXIS gave to my phone, the OTA that AXIS gave to the phone did not include the APN to the Prefered Access Point in the Nokia 3310 Classic. It will have a problem on the java ( midlet ) applications that will use the internet connections, since the configurations / settings are not included with the OTA.

So, I have to do it manually without using the OTA.. Here is how:

From the Standby, goto Menu > Settings > Configuration
Choose the Personal Configuration Settings
Choose AddNew and Pick the Access Point
Fill Account Name with Axis
Then Choose a menu below saying Access Point Settings
Fill the Data Bearer with Packet Data
After that, Choose Bearer Settings menu
Fill with:

Packet Data Access Point: axis
Network Type: IP4
Authentication type: Normal
User Name: axis
Password: 123456

After done doing that, there will be a list in the Personal Account saying Axis. Before going to another step, choose the Options > Activate ( this is important, since my bro found it , thank you bro! ).

Settings for the APN already done now. It's time to setup the web settings. Still in the Personal Configuration Settings, do this:

Choose the Options > AddNew
Pick the Web and press Select
Fill:

Account Name: Axis
Homepage: http://wap.axisworld.co.id
UserName: axis
Password: 123456
Use Preferred Access Point: Yes

After done doing that, as usual, don't forget to Activate the Web Settings that already done before by using the Options > Activate menu with the web settings selected.

Okay, that's should be done. Now, test the browser by pressing the 0 (zero) button until the browser comes up. It will go to the wap.axisworld.co.id. If that works, then try the opera mini. It should also be works too... And the ymtiny, ebuddy and all java midlet applications will can be use to connected to the internet using the AXIS Card GPRS.

Now, I've a problem on connecting the IM from AXIS Card. Does anyone know the configurations on connecting to the Yahoo! via IM default program from Nokia 3310 Classic ? :)

UPDATE:
Since I've been using SIMPATI Telkomsel to connect the IM, so last night I inserted the SIMPATI SIM Card, it automaticaly add the APN. Take off the card, insert the AXIS back in. And connect to the IM using the SIMPATI APN for the IM. It works!.. :)

Hardy Heron Temperature Problem

After few weeks running in hardy heron, I got realize that the temperature is getting hot even when I'm idle.. It could took to 82 ^o C and the sound of fan is very hard to hear. The temperature plays around 42, 55 and sometime above that 55. But usually it comes at 55 and increasing the temperature is more often then cooling down.

Very different temperature in Windows Vista, I got around 38 to 46 ^o C. And plays around 42 in normal use. Oh ya, I don't want to start talking about vista vs hardy here. I just want the hardy temperature not as that high.

Looking for solution in google and ubuntu forum about this sympthom. There are so many solution in the ubuntu forum and I've tried some of them (including the swappiness), but nothing change dramaticaly to cooling down the temperature. Until I got the solution about changing the powernowd with cpufreqd and cpudyn. So, I tried the cpufreqd first, and seems the result not to responsive. And the last and hope that it works, I change the cpufreqd to cpudyn. Until right now, the temperature is 42 ^o C. Although if I play games, the temperature can get to 63 ^o C. But it can cooling down to 42 more faster..

Well, hope this package can solve the temperature solution.. I'll report again about this later.. :)

Harddisk Park in Hardy Heron

After playing around with hardy for about 2 weeks (updates here, updates there), I heard the harddisk sound ticking in every few seconds. Even I'm idle with hardy, it's still ticking. I didn't know if there was some program runs in the background or not, but it's a little buggy for me.

Searching to the uncle google about that problem, I got to this page to handle the harddisk park in ubuntu hardy heron. In the part that said `How to get disks idleing correctly (without excessive load cycling)` (which is at the bottom of the page), I followed the steps only for the first 2 points. Since the rest of it seems a little make me confused to followed. Restart the hardy.. and I got that ticking sound disappear when I'm in idle. :)

Been long time no post in this blog. This night, after teach a class, dakochan notify me that she already post a comment for my earlier post. Well, after all that wasn't her fault. Ah, never mind about that..

Anyway, it's has been almost 4 months that I did not write a post in this blog. Like a dead blog.. :)) I'm doing a CMS that I wrote for my own blog. Later after this CMS done, I will upgrade my blog to my own CMS.. Hope I can finish that CMS soon.

Code Igniter Folder Structure

It has been long time to learn this Code Igniter. Modify them in some things and combine it with external plugins like the adoDB and fPDF. Also combine with javascript framework like jQuery. So, before I forgot the Code Igniter folder structure, I better post it in my blog here.

In the standard default extraction of the CI (Code Igniter), the default folder structure is already good. But the folder structure will be a little bit complicated if I want to upgrade to new CI version. That's why I got to seperate the applications and the main engine of CI. And when there is a new version of CI and want to replace the core engine of CI, I just replace the engine just in one folder. Beside that, since I separate the application folder that include model, controller and views; so, the application folder it self could be moved to other folder out of the documentroot folder. In this case, your documentroot folder will not have the MVC files. Your documentroot will only have the index.php and some CSS and Javascripts.

Here is the Code Igniter Core Engine Folder Structure:

If you see the folder structure, I put the CI Engine and the applications in different folders. In the folder as the example, I use the CIGNITER folder to hold the engine (__my_ci_engine__ folder), applications (__my_ci_mvc__ folder), plug ins (__my_ci_plugins__ folder) and the user guide (__my_ci_user_guide).

So, when there is a new version of Code Igniter, I just replace the system folder. What have to concern is the __my_ci_mvc__ folder that hold all the applications. It includes the model, controller and the views.

Take a look at the __my_ci_mvc__ folder there. I have 2 applications that runs on one CI engine (the gbi application and the welcome application). If you compare the 2 applications folder structure with __my_ci_engine__ > system > application it has the same structure. I just put them out, so I can get easy replacing the core CI.

And take a look at the gbi application folder. I have a folder called `simplyWhite` under the views. I put this folder to prepare the application so it can hold many kinds of view (themes) that can be added some time. :)

And here is the Code Igniter that I put in the documentroot folder of the web server:

At the picture above, I put the CSS, Images and Javascripts in __my_ci_application__ folder. Take a look at the 2 applications under the __my_ci_application__ folder, it contains the gbi and welcome. Focused on the folder gbi. I also seperate the Javascripts folder and the themes (since the CSS and images of the themes mostly are different with the other themes).

So, I can have many applications in 1 Code Igniter Core Engine and in that applications, I also can have many views (themes).

Ha ha ha... a little search in my spare time about the projects that I've done. It's the open source project that I had developed and published to SourceForge. It has been 4 years!

Since my access to the FTP had blocked by the network admin, I can not continue it anymore. The latest uploaded was by Claudemir P. da Luz Jr.. And I don't know if he update the new code or not... I would like to thank to him that upload my file to SourceForge. Hope if there is another open source project I can contact him again.. --that is if I am not forgot my account in SourceForge.. :)) --

Modal Dialog Alternative

After learning some jQuery for a while.. I was faced to use the modal dialog. There are so many scripts in the internet to create modal dialog. The plugins for the jQuery it self has already exists, it's called jqModal that I've used in the previous link in the PortoFolio Category.

If you try the application that I've made, and click the `Add New` button. I had some problems with that plugins.

In the FireFox, I've to click the button twice to show the modal dialog.
In IE, when the dialog has pop out and you try to resize the size of your browser, the combo object (for the commands) are visible in front of the dialog. And the combo can be selected to choose the options.
The size of the plugins is quite big, since I just want to have a modal dialog with out any other features.

So, I try to search the other plugins. May be with out the plugins, I can get the more lighter. I found a full featured modal dialog with CSS. It said no javascript needed to create that modal dialog, evenough that at the end it use javascript to show the dialog and had lots of pro and contra there --I forgot the link--. And I think that CSS quite usefull and very light to show the modal dialog.

Now, I just needed a little tweak from that CSS and the CSS from the jqModal. Combine them with a little script from jQuery. And I had one modal dialog that suits my requirements.

You can create more effects there and create another funtion to disable all the forms object when the modal pops out.

Just read the news from http://php.net and surprised me that PHP4 will discontinued. Oh no.... Most of my web projects use this PHP version. Change to version 5 ? I should consider that..

The previous post was very very hard for me to post. From difficult to uploading the picture, saving the post, and previewing the blog. All those simple steps are actually and must be soo easy, but at the real steps, it isn't! Yeah great! doing post that actually simple makes so hard. Why? It's the super duper slow bandwith in this office...

5 months with OLD Computer!

The picture above was my dialy computer that I use to develop script in my office. Since Feb 2007, it was suddently damaged. I don't know why it wont start up normaly. I thought that the system operation some thing wrong or may be the harddisk that damaged. After I install the new system operation in my own computer, well the result is those problems that I predict aren't occured. Final suspicious is the motherboard that has damaged.

After 3 months with out computer to develop, I also seldom being in my office. Getting lazy to do something in my office. Although I already ask the new computer for me to develop, but until 3 months later, it still not come. ( blah... )

Well, when Endar install the new operation system for the backup server, I used that computer until now. Using the backup server as the development? That's great! Oh yeah?? Say's who? The spesification of the server is a half below of my previous computer. It's sloooooooooooooowwwwwwww.... And the server already been installed the Oracle service, that's make more slow on loading the first time.

Hi all,

Sorry that this blog never been updated again. Same as title.. seems I don't have spare time to write a simple thing in this blog. Why? May be I have too much browsing on reading news that actually not very important at all.. :D or may be I have too much something to do, so I as myself confuse what should I do first?

For example, when I wanna learn more about Code Igniter, there is a job waiting me to accomplished that. But when that job has done, I got lazy to learn CI. Work for 14 hours a day, make me soooooo tired.

And with no computer on my desk (since my computer broke 5 months ago), so right now I just use the existing computer to do my task. Yeah right™, after 5 months waiting the new computer to arrive (and never exist until now), I just get borred... May be that's another reason that I never updated this blog again.

Until my bro asked me to update my blog here.. Well, may be a little scratch from me on this post will a little bit make him cheers.. :D

April 2007 Graduation

Today, actualy at 14:00, it's the graduation of Budi Luhur University Student April 2007 period. I went to JCC with riding my motorcycle with a friend of mine -- Isar --. Isar had a nice dressed and complete with a tie. Without a jacket, he was join on my motorcycle. Not just Isar, Endarto and Lihin also join to go to JCC with Endar's bike. And Rony riding his own motorcycle.

The first road from the University, the weather was still fine. Yes, ofcourse we went to JCC after waiting the rain to stop -- it was a big rain before --. In the middle of the road, it was rainy... and the rain getting more bigger and bigger. Isar got wet just like a rat from the sewer... -- too bad I do not have a picture of him when he got wet :P --.

After parking the motorcycle, we didn't care about other people that staring of us. Yes, not just Isar that get wet, even I prepare myself with a rain coat, I still got wet. And also Endar, Lihin and Rony. Inside the building, we right away went to toilet and prepare our self.

Hmm... before the graduation begin, we went to take a coffee break. I took 4 mini pizzas there and a cup of coffee... -- I was so starfing --.. Well, after Mr. Bobby called us to go inside, so we finished our food.

Before I went to JCC, tub said if we sit on the VIP chair, we can not make the unusual things. Since evertything already had rules. But not for us, we get laughing all the time along the graduations. And have some picture together.. :D -- picture is comming up.. it is in Endar's camera --

Looking at the calendar for this April... Hmm... friday i got holiday... saturday?? i've got to teach... may be I cancel the class and replaced at the next week... :D
Actualy I want to take my long week end from thursday... but at that day I got an invitation to JCC. so... I take my long weekend from friday.. :(

I've been looking for application (in this case is midlet -- java -- ) for connecting me from my phone to google talk. There are some midlet listing for to do that.. But I prefer to talkonaut. Even that midlet is still in development, I think that midlet is the best than the others in connecting to google talk. Although, in the new version it's not just connect to google talk, but to Yahoo Messenger, ICQ, AIM and MSN. And best of all, it's free...

I'm still using the 1.28.60 version.. Even in this version, talkonaut can not connect to other client chat listed above, but for me, this is more stable than the newer version. May be later I will upgrade to the new version, when the 2.xx.xx version has been stable.. :)

Can you ever setup a server with LAMP in linux and that server is getting to use for tommorow??
Yeah rite (tm)... The boss ask me to do that... well.. it's not the setup of the server that takes long... but .. It's about all the unplanned thing in his mind...
Did anyone know where is the link of the .swf for punching the boss game ?? -i forgot the link and that game has been deleted from my harddisk... too bad..... -

MotoGP 2007 start on 10 March 2007... Horay... a few more days to go... new bike's cc... 800cc...
If those bike are faster than the other sessions, well... that's mean my time to watch motogp is getting shorter... :( But that's okay, since they can give the show exciting.. I will watch...
